1975 by BILLY RAFFOUL (EP) and WATER slice (self titled) (EP)

two EPs today.

The first, and the one I have the most to say about, is the debut for Billy Raffoul, an artist who has gotten a ton of buzz in recent months since he was “discovered” by kid Rock. but don’t hold that against him. Raffoul is a quiet and serious artist, and he’s drawing comparisons to the likes of Hozier and Jeff Buckley. Yeah, his voice is remarkable and his songs are romantic, but the intricate time and tempo changes give some weight to the slick production by Mike Crossey (producer of Arctic Monkeys).

He’s currently on tour with Needtobreathe, and I’ve put the dates at the bottom of this post. If you show up at the DC Anthem show, you might see me there.

Water Slice, on the other hand, are a new band—just getting started with an eponymous EP that’s pretty straightforward: Well written songs, well-played instruments, and fine vocals. They’re a band worth checking out.
